Teen Critically Hurt After Being Dragged At High Speed In Tyrone Twp.

A 17-year-old from Kent City was hospitalized with critical injuries after being dragged by a speeding vehicle through Tyrone Township, in a shocking incident that unfolded on Thursday afternoon. The Kent County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) provided details of the incident, which occurred near the intersection of 20 Mile Road and Fruit Ridge Avenue.

According to official reports, two groups of teenagers had gathered in the area, one inside a car and the other standing outside. The altercation ensued over a vape pen transaction, resulting in a heated argument.

Witnesses say that as tensions escalated, the car suddenly sped away at high speeds, dragging one of the teens with it. The victim, later identified as Colin Rogers, was found lying on the road and immediately rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Colin’s father, Clay Rogers, spoke to reporters at the hospital and revealed that Colin had undergone several surgeries and was currently in a coma. Clay expressed his disbelief and shared that his son was merely trying to protect his friends and retrieve a stolen vape pen.

“He was just trying to help his friends because the bigger kids were picking on them,” Clay stated. “Over a $20 freaking vape pen, he ended up in this condition. It’s heartbreaking.”

According to Clay, Colin is an outdoors-loving teenager who enjoys video games and dirt bikes. He aspires to study writing and law in the future. The incident has left the close-knit community shocked and dismayed.

Upon further investigation, the KCSO revealed that all the teenagers involved were known to each other, and their ages ranged from 15 to 17. The vehicle used in the incident was later found by investigators.

The case is now pending review by prosecutors, who will determine the charges against those responsible for Colin’s injuries. The KCSO is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 616-632-6125. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.

Family, friends, and concerned members of the community have been rallying around Colin, and a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help cover his medical expenses and support his recovery.
