Gogglebox’s George Baggs slammed after vape promotion breaches advertising rules

An investigation has found that former Gogglebox star George Baggs broke advertising rules by promoting vapes on TikTok whilst being underage. The influencer and podcast host, who is 19 years old, posted a video of himself using nicotine e-cigarettes on TikTok, despite the legal age to promote vapes being 25. Promoting nicotine e-cigarettes that are not licenced as medicines is banned from newspapers, magazines and online. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) found that the influencer and e-cigarette brand HQD Tech broke the advertising code by promoting the e-cigarettes and their components on TikTok. The watchdog also warned George not to use under 25s to advertise e-cigarettes. The advert was taken down following the investigation and is banned from appearing again on social media.
