The Los Angeles Chargers have created quite a stir with their latest schedule release video, which features a host of Easter eggs to entice social media enthusiasts. The anime-style video includes scenes of Chiefsaholic (aka Xaviar Babudar) cutting off his ankle bracelet, and Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel vaping, which supposedly happened during a game last season. The team even inserted a QR code to direct Chargers fans to a ticket page and Raiders fans to a Google search page on “how to get a job.”
For those unfamiliar with Chiefsaholic, he is a Chiefs super fan who was arrested for allegedly robbing a bank in Tulsa. Before his arrest, Babudar had wagered futures bets on Patrick Mahomes to win MVP and the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl, both of which happened, with him earning over $100,000 in proceeds, which he could have used to bail himself out of jail. However, after his bail, he cut off his ankle bracelet and skipped a court hearing and is now on the run, with a $1 million bond warrant out for his arrest.
The Chargers’ video was released just after 8 p.m., and by 9 p.m. ET, it had already been viewed over 600,000 times on Twitter. With its clever Easter eggs, the Chargers’ video is garnering the most attention of any NFL release this year.
