Drug Dealer Foiled: Cocaine Hidden in Vape Device

A recent case in Tunbridge Wells, UK, has captivated the attention of law enforcement and the public alike, revealing the lengths to which drug dealers will go to conceal their illegal activities. In a bizarre turn of events, 21-year-old Kenado Boja was caught with cocaine stashed in a vape while trying to evade arrest by pretending to be Greek.

The Arrest of Kenado Boja

On February 2, officers executed a stop on a Ford Fiesta believed to be involved in drug supply. The car was pulled over on Calverley Road, an area rife with drug-related activities. Upon stopping, Boja exhibited noticeable nervousness, presenting a Greek identity card as he claimed he was merely moving the car for a friend.

Discovery of Drugs

During a drug search, officers retrieved cocaine hidden within Boja’s vape device, alongside additional bags of cocaine from the vehicle and two mobile phones. This incident quickly escalated, leading to Boja’s arrest.

Valuation of Drugs Seized

The cocaine confiscated was estimated to have a street value of approximately £500. A subsequent search at a property linked to Boja uncovered around 50 wraps of cocaine, valued at up to £2,700. Additionally, officers seized digital scales and £613 in cash. This extensive haul revealed the scale of Boja’s operation and his involvement in the illicit drug trade.

Legal Proceedings

Following his arrest, Boja was charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possessing an identity document with intent. He pleaded guilty to these charges at Maidstone Crown Court. On October 15, the court sentenced him to three years and six months in prison. Furthermore, Boja’s seized cash and the Ford Fiesta were ordered to be forfeited, marking a significant financial and personal loss for the drug dealer.

Law Enforcement Insights

Investigating officer, PC Taiya Patching, emphasized the vigilance of local authorities in spotting drug dealers operating in West Kent. “Dealers who travel to West Kent to deal class A drugs are easily spotted by local officers, after which it’s only a matter of time before they are arrested,” Patching stated. The quick thinking of officers led to the unmasking of Boja’s false identity and facilitated the investigation, which uncovered a substantial number of cocaine deals along with the cash from his criminal activities.

The Wider Impact

This case highlights not only the dangers of drug trafficking but also the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in combating the drug trade. The use of unconventional methods, such as a vape device for concealment, underscores the evolving tactics employed by drug dealers. However, the effective strategies of police force such as surveillance and community intelligence remain crucial in disrupting these illicit operations.

Conclusion

Kenado Boja’s case serves as a cautionary tale about the risks associated with drug dealing. His attempts to obscure his identity and conceal his illegal activities were quickly unraveled by the astute police officers in Tunbridge Wells. As drug laws remain stringent, those involved in these activities will continue to face severe repercussions, both legally and personally.
