JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The Mississippi Department of Health announced its intent to revoke the license from Rapid Analytics, the largest medical cannabis testing lab in the state.
This comes after MSDH’s investigation from December 21 to February 9.
On December 21, MSDH placed an administrative hold on all cannabis products tested by Rapid Analytics after finding irregularities in the products they tested.
The department’s investigation revealed there were significant problems in the way they tested products and the results they were pushing.
When an irregularity is found in a product, the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program will do an audit.
In this case, an audit was done to validate the results related to the use of pesticides and the presence of mycotoxins.
MSDH official, Greg Flynn, says most of the products tested by Rapid Analytics have been re-tested and have already returned to shelves.
He just hopes this investigation brings more trust among patients and businesses, as they look to hold their standard for everyone.
“We’re always going to air on the side of the patient and making sure that they are safe, and any products that they’re taking are safe. We’re going to make sure that everybody plays by the same rules that everybody signed up to be in compliance with the medical cannabis statute. So that is our mission is to make sure that everybody’s following the rules and that what the patients are getting is absolutely safe.”
Rapid Analytics’ license will be revoked on March 13.
The owner of Rapid Analytics says they will appeal the license decision.
