Dispensary workers scramble to keep up with demand of weed seeds
As the legalization of recreational cannabis takes effect in Minnesota, dispensary workers are finding themselves in a frenzy to keep up with the increasing demand for weed seeds. With the ability for adults to possess and use recreational cannabis, many individuals are turning to planting their own cannabis seeds as a viable option.
One dispensary, Cultivated CBD, has witnessed an unprecedented surge in orders for weed seeds, selling around 15,000 seeds in just a matter of hours. They have even received orders from over 500 stores across the state. The owner of Cultivated CBD, Anthony Newby, mentioned that they have been packing seeds at an extraordinary rate and the demand has been monumental.
For many consumers, growing their own cannabis plants provides an opportunity to have a constant supply of cannabis without relying on dispensaries. The new Minnesota law enables residents to grow up to eight cannabis plants, further promoting self-sustainability. However, there are some restrictions in place, allowing only four of the plants to reach full maturity.
While growing cannabis at home may seem simple, the process involves specific requirements such as soil, sunlight, and humidity. To assist customers in becoming successful home growers, dispensaries like Cultivated CBD are planning to provide education resources in the form of videos and podcasts. This will enable customers to access timely information and guidance on cultivating their plants.
In addition to the increasing demand for weed seeds, the Red Lake Reservation became one of the first places to sell recreational marijuana. As a tribal-owned dispensary, they can bypass state regulations and have begun selling cannabis immediately.
