SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — In a recent crackdown on illegal sales, four individuals have been arrested for selling alcohol and vape products to minors at stores in Suffolk County. The arrests were made during compliance checks conducted by Suffolk County Police after receiving numerous community complaints.
The First Precinct Crime Section officers, along with Community Support Unit officers and patrol officers, launched an investigation into the sale of vape products and alcohol to underage individuals. The compliance checks targeted seven businesses in the county to ensure that they were following the law.
As a result of the operation, four people were apprehended and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child. These individuals violated the law by selling alcohol to customers under 21 years of age. Among the arrested are a 26-year-old employee of Liberty gas station located at 725 Wyandanch Ave. in West Babylon and a 27-year-old employee of Valero gas station located at 701 Oak St. in Copiague.
Additionally, two individuals were caught selling vape tobacco products to underage individuals. A 22-year-old woman, an employee of Flame Worx located at 500 Oak St. in Copiague, was arrested and charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. The owner of Xpress Market To Go, a 43-year-old man from Deer Park, was also apprehended for the same offense. His store is located at 1273 Deer Park Ave. in North Babylon.
All four suspects have been released on Field Appearance Tickets and are set to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date. The Suffolk County Police have stated that they take these violations seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety of minors in the community.
