As of July 1, 2024, changes are coming to the market of THC-infused beverages in Hartford. These non-alcoholic drinks, which may contain THC derivatives such as Delta-8, Delta-9, Delta-10, THCA, or HHC, are now governed by new regulations to ensure consumer safety and responsible use.

Where to Purchase THC-Infused Beverages

Regulations specify that these products are exclusively available at licensed cannabis establishments, which include dispensaries and hybrid retailers, as well as package stores with the appropriate endorsement. The exclusivity is part of an effort to ensure that THC-infused beverages are sold in controlled, regulated environments.

Minimum Age for Purchase and Consumption

In line with responsible consumption practices, the sale of THC-infused beverages to individuals under the age of 21 is prohibited. Age verification will play a crucial role in safeguarding against underage sales and consumption.

Packaging and Labeling Requirements

Effective October 1, 2024, stringent packaging and labeling standards will come into full effect. These will include a cap of 3 mg of THC per 12-ounce container, making it essential for retailers to adjust their inventory to comply with the new limitations.

Calls for Responsible Consumption

DCP Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli urges consumers to engage in responsible consumption practices. It’s advised to keep THC-infused products in their original packaging, locked up, and out of reach of children and pets.
