Capital Health invites middle school students, sixth grade through eighth, to enter a public service announcement (PSA) video contest. The campaign, “Be Smart, Don’t Start,” is an effort to help raise awareness and engage students about the dangers of vaping.
Young students are taking up vaping at an alarming rate. Recently, the U.S. Surgeon General referred to the use of e-cigarettes among tweens and teens as an “epidemic.” As healthcare leaders, Capital Health expresses concern about the harmful effects vaping will have on this young generation. While research is currently underway to help us uncover the lasting health consequences of these products, one thing is certain: kids need to be made aware about the dangers and risks associated with vaping.
While we can continue to warn about the vaping, there is no substitute for kids to hear it from their own peers.
Students should put together their best 30 – 60 second video regarding the harmful effects and dangers of vaping. They will have a chance to help their school’s PTO/PTA win $2,000!
We will be selecting one winner in each of the following categories:
- Most Impactful: $2,000
- Most Creative and Original: $2,000
- Best Use of Messaging: $2,000
- Honorable Mention: $2,000
